Words have been mysteriously stolen. Clever artwork is used to portray a great feeling and happy tone. Encourages young children to glue together the final clues. Even had my cousins thinking!!!!

THUNDERSTRUCK Review

Thanks to OUP for supplying me the book!

Thunderstruck
Title: THUNDERSTRUCK

Author: Ali Sparkes

Rating 8/10

Alisha is a brainy girl who hates sports and struggles to make friends. She is constantly worried about what the cool girls think of her and wishes she could be popular. Theo could not be more different; he’s new to the area, hyper and doesn’t care what anyone thinks. Yet after the both survive the strike, they each begin to change – and not just because of the cool scars they have on their feet.

The ghosts, Doug and Lizzie, are fun in many ways, with their 70s clothes and pop culture references, but there’s a serious side to all the ghostly goings on and it’s more than just friendship that forms between the four as local events take a shadowy turn.

Are the phantoms messengers of doom?

Me And Mister P Review

Me and Mister P

Title: Me And Mister P

Author: Maria Farrer

Rating: 7.5/10

Arthur has had enough. His life is a never-ending cycle of Liam this, Liam that, Liam blah blah blah, while Arthur just gets told off. He picks up his lucky crystal and his survival tin and leaves home. Forever. Or, he would have done if Mister P hadn't been stood on his doorstep with a rather smelly suitcase and a label with his address on it…

This is such a heart-warming tale of understanding and tolerance, about being a good friend and a better brother. Maria Farrer depicts the emotional struggles Arthur and his family face with compassion and heart, while Daniel Ridley’s illustrations add depth and humour to this beautiful book.

How will Arthur find accepting Liam?

Jake absolutely adores his dad, and likewise. For Dads usual day job, he has the tough life of the building trade, demolishing buildings but at the weekends he is wrestling sensation DEMOLITION MAN… Just Jake and Dads secret. The two absolutely love watching wrestling, but when Jake sees a competition to be a professional wrestler, Jake doesn't hesitate to enter dad. Just one slight problem! Dad doesn't know...

The Hunger Games Review

The Hunger Games (The Hunger Games, #1)

Title: The Hunger Games

Author: Suzanne Collins

Rating:9/10

The nation of Panem, formed from a post-apocalyptic North America, is a country that consists of a wealthy Capitol region surrounded by 12 poorer districts. In its history, a rebellion led by a 13th district against the Capitol resulted in its destruction and the creation of an annual televised event known as the Hunger Games. In punishment, and as a reminder of the power and grace of the Capitol, each district must yield one boy and one girl between the ages of 12 and 18 through a lottery-like system to take part in the games. The 'tributes' are chosen during the annual Reaping and are forced to fight to the death, leaving only one survivor to claim victory.

Katniss Everdeen finds herself fighting for her life having taken the place of her younger sister in The Hunger Games, a fight to the death televised annually and designed to keep people in order following an uprising against the powers that be and to entertain the few rich.

I loved this book, as it had me on edge of my seat, in anticipation of the events to follow!
